LIVE BAIT AND TACKLE
Aboard the Surf Rider we love to fish with live bait! Surf Rider sports lots of live bait well capacity specifically
designed to carry several types of live bait simultaneously. This allows us to fish for several species all in the
same day. It also allows us to cast several different types of bait to that finicky fish of your dreams.

Light tackle is our specialty. With spinning tackle ranging from 6 to 20 lb. test, we can usually handle most
any type of sport fish we encounter.  Don’t despair we still have the "monster" gear for the extra big ones if
we need it.

Some clients like to fly fish. We encourage this, however, in order to do this properly we require you to
charter the entire boat on your own, with no more than three persons in your party. You must bring your own
fly rod and related equipment. We also require you to have rudimentary knowledge of the workings of your
equipment. If you are a fly fisherman you know why these rules are so rigid, if not, try fly fishing you’ll
understand.
There is always that
one guy with his own
rod. He just can’t
wait to catch a fish on
it! Who could fault
him? We generally
handle each case
individually, but... I’d
like to point out a few
things before you
consider bringing
your own equipment.
Large Group of Snapper
  • We have the finest Shimano Tackle available onboard
    already.
  • Our tackle is suited for the types of fishing we
    do daily.
  • Our fishing line is fresh. It is never more than
    two weeks old.
  • Our drags are in perfect condition.
  • Please don’t bring "Old Rusty" "cuz your great grandpa
used it in the Civil War to feed the troops that one day" and
grandma just gave it to you for your big fishing trip to the
    Keys.
  • If you insist on bringing your own tackle, at least
match the type we are using.
  • Be sure the line is fresh
    and the drag is smooth.
  • Don’t blame anyone when you
lose your fish or worse yet your rod when the handle snaps
    off on the strike.
  • We are confident that we will provide
you with a satisfactory fishing trip with the equipment we have
    onboard.
